What to take with you heading out on the mountain bike.
A suitable mountain bike should be in good working order. Check your brake pads for wear, ensure tyres are in good condition and that the gears function well. It is advised that you use flat pedals on our skills session courses as we believe it is the best way to learn before progressing onto clip style pedals.
A cycle helmet is compulsory while eye protection and gloves are strongly recommended at all times. A full face helmet, spine protector, knee pads and elbow pads should be worn when riding extreme downhill trails.
A suitable clothing for a days cycle ride in all weather conditions. It is advised that you carry a rain jacket at all times. A breathable base layer is advised rather than a cotton t-shirt and shorts would be more suitable then tracksuit bottoms.
Its a good idea to carry your mobile phone, spare clothing, tools, food, etc in a back pack. Look out for a backpack with a water bladder which make life much easier on the trail.
A good mulit tool will have allen keys from number 1.5 to 8mm, screw drivers and a chain breaker. You should also carry a mini pump and two inner tubes and a power link to use when if you break your chain.
It is advised to carry two water bottles on your bike or a hydration pack and some handy food such as cereal bars and fruit.
